i get terribly fascinated just by how normal and un-special my life remains during the holidays. these days i still get up every morning and make my way to work, and go home at the end of the day exhausted with the million things i’ve had to do and the million other things i must accomplish in the days to come. the malls are bursting at the seams with shoppers and people enjoying their vacation, and all i can do is stand mesmerized at the flurry of it all: the excitement, the joy, the enthusiasm i seem not to have taken part of this year. still i count myself lucky, to be who i am, where i am, now — unabashedly clueless most days but happy and overwhelmingly loved nonetheless.
