To Adorn Oneself Accordingly

so i recently started doing some minor social media work for a local jewelry retailer, and believe me when i tell you: it’s been nothing short of fun. being exposed to this side of the industry is an entirely new thing to me, and while i am not at all involved in the manufacturing, designing, or sourcing aspects of the brand, i enjoy learning new things about it every day.

at the beginning of the year we shone the spotlight on some of the most notable jewelry trends for 2021. i’ll be honest: not all of them are up my alley. but certain ones really stuck with me and i often find myself ogling them on the internet, especially with so much time on my hands these days. i thought i’d share them here so we can daydream about them together. shall we?

STACKABLE RINGS

to be fair, i don’t think this trend ever really went away since it first hit mainstream popularity many, many years ago. stacked rings, in all shapes, sizes, metals, and stones, are a tried-and-true accessory for the sartorial fiend. you pretty much can’t go wrong with them. and the best part? you can wear as many or as few rings as you please—depending on how sassy you’re feeling that day. right now i’m craving some funky ring bands, as well as those dainty rings topped with a little colored gemstone.

but also: i’m drooling over this ENTIRE selection of stackable rings, you guys. most of the designs come in both solid gold and vermeil options—even multiple metal colors. it’s so hard to pick faves!

this one makes me truly, truly excited. i used to wear mismatched earrings all the time, especially in college. i remember having a pair made at a random crafter’s booth at my university, with one beaded earring dangling almost to my shoulders (while its pair was a lot shorter—barely more than a stud!). the fact that they’re such a big thing right now actually makes me so giddy. i would love to pick up some fun new pairs, for sure!

PEARLS, PEARLS, PEARLS

it feels slightly strange to refer to pearl jewelry as a ~current trend~ since they have been mainstays in most women’s armoires since time immemorial. but alas, here we are. pearls are everywhere—from the simple and subdued to the beautifully ostentatious. i particularly love baroque style pieces coming out of jewelry brands these days. plus those super sleek and modern iterations are a delight, too, no? they work so well with a variety of outfits, from intricate dresses to casual women’s pants.
