London Calling
it goes without saying that europe hosts some of the most stunning, travel-friendly locations in the world. every country, every city, is teeming with such history and charm, which continue to fascinate so many. in fact, the united kingdom alone is home to a range of awesome destinations that make for the perfect trip away, whether you’re looking for a countryside retreat or a vibrant city break.
london — oh, beautiful london — is easily in my top 5 dream destinations, for its slew of historic buildings, offbeat tourist spots and high street shopping (not to mention all the scenic views!). it seems that when it comes to UK cities, little have more to offer than the vibrant, never-sleeping capital.
as the capital of the UK, it’s pretty easy to get to london from wherever you may be. i envy those who are a drive away from the city, as it would be the perfect opportunity for an epic road trip! i hear there are also a number of UK coach companies that sell tickets to london fairly cheaply, so anyone can visit the capital for just a few pounds depending on the time of year (can you tell i’ve done my research? in case i get to go europe-hopping again one day and finally include london to my holiday list!).
trains also run to london from most major UK stations, but for those wanting to get a quick arrival, the best option is of course to catch a flight into one of london’s three main airports. no matter how you’re planning to travel, click here for the best selection of cases to ensure that you arrive in style.
seeing as london is rife with exciting tourist attractions, even a couple of weeks is probably not enough for a proper tour of the city. but there’s always time for the capital’s main attractions, no? there’s buckingham palace, westminster abbey, big ben and st. paul’s cathedral, which are visited each year by millions of tourists from around the globe. i hope to be one of them someday!
i certainly won’t miss out on tower bridge and the tower of london, either – these historic landmarks make for great photos! on the flipside, i am also intrigued by the london dungeon tours, which i hear are not for the faint hearted, but definitely plenty of fun if you can muster up the courage.
the iconic london eye is for sure worth a ride, with its fantastic views of the city from above. and why not go for a guided cruise tour down the thames as well, perhaps with a loved one in tow? it’s definitely part of my to-do list!
then of course i can’t possibly visit london without a trip (or two, or three) to oxford street and camden market for some much needed shopping, both for myself and for some cute souvenirs to take home.
i’m already bursting with excitement at the thought of going on a trip to london — now all that’s left is to save up, book some tickets and be on our merry way! 😉
