high-end shoes: all that sass
just a few months ago, a michael kors boutique opened at one of our high-end malls. i was soo looking forward to it, i couldn’t think of anything else for an entire month. and i’m not even that much of a fan of michael kors. it was just exhillirating to imagine all the new, wonderful things i might see inside the store. ironically though, i haven’t even visited it. (talk about anti-climactic!) i think i got lazy from waiting for it to open. but hey, maybe i’ll go and have a look-see after this.
anyway, what i’ve observed with the shops that we do have here – LV, prada, gucci and the like – is that, hardly anyone ever goes there. with the exception of celebrities and socialites and what-not, of course. but they make up, what, like 1% of our population? (that probabaly isn’t the most accurate estimation, but you get the idea.) we are, after all, a third world country… which i’ve never seen as a big deal before, but i am starting to feel boxed in by the concept and its yielded realities. but, alas, that is a complicated topic i’d rather delve into when i am feeling much more, um, awake.
going back to the ‘expensive brands’ shenanigan, i think i will just have to wait for future developments. hey, a marc jacobs store might open in the next… ten years or so. bleargh. i don’t know, really, but i’m starting to think that manila isn’t quite ready yet for full-blast, high-end invasion.
so to sum up: too bad for me.

on the other – lighter, happier – hand, my frustrations on said issue has caused me to search high and low for other sources of great-looking shoes. and i found it! i have discovered an online store with the most fantastic shoes i’ve seen in a long time. they are locally based (yay!) but they get their products abroad. they’ve got designer-like pairs that are absolutely drool-worthy. and oh my, the oxford heels are a-m-a-z-i-n-g.
have a look around sassyspot, where you can buy gorgeous shoes for only $25-$50.
i want them all. really.

i love your blog…. *bookmarks*
We have a few high end stores a few cities away, and a couple of relatively high end stores in the local mall but if I want to go the designer dig’s it’s into The City for me.
Those vintage shoes you found are fantastic! I’m in serious shoe envy. Luckily, sassyspot (thanks for the link, I’m addicted now) can cure me from this.
