Coastal Scents Revealed Palette Review And Swatches
the coastal scents revealed palette ($19.95) is a collection of 20 neutral eyeshadows in both matte and shimmer finishes. i’ve heard people compare some of its shades to naked palettes 1 and 2, but i own neither of them so i cannot attest to this fact (if you’d like to see swatches of said dupes check out emily’s post).
without such comparison, however, i feel like i can give a more organic review of this palette that is true to my perspective and experience in general.
the revealed palette comes in cardboard packaging that closes with a magnet. it’s a good sized “booklet”; one that is sleek and compact without being flimsy. the only downside is the lack of a mirror inside, which would have made this palette a lot more convenient especially for travel.
still, i do adore this set of shadows, although certain shades are on the chalky side. but they are not impossible to work with and can still look pretty with enough patience and persistence. here are swatches of the revealed palette in artificial light (to better see the sheen on some of the shades):
the top row is made up of light to medium shades, including some off-whites, standard browns/taupes and some wearable gold and silver shadows as well. most are fairly pigmented and blend with no issues, while some don’t show up as well on the lids. i still consider them great, versatile eyeshadows though that work especially well as transition colors.
the bottom row contains the darker eyeshadows in the palette, with beautiful taupes and some altogether flattering, shimmery colors. only the black is left matte in this row, and while it is not the deepest black i have ever come across, it is still fairly pigmented and can be piled on for more intensity. some of these darker hues have fallout when applied so do be careful when blending!
overall i am truly happy with this purchase. it is an affordable (i got it on sale at half off!) assortment of eyeshadows to wear on their own or mixed and matched to create every neutral look you’d like — and really, you can never have enough of those!
