Unicorn Brush Cleanser Review & Demo
i’ve been following local beauty brand HELLO GORGEOUS for quite some time, and when i saw them release their unicorn brush wash a few months ago, i knew i had to try it out. i picked mine up at their greenhills stall (you guys know i’m always there) for just P200, but it is also available to order online.
the unicorn brush wash is essentially a solid makeup brush and sponge cleanser (much like the cult-fave blendercleanser solid), made 100x sweeter with a sparkly gold unicorn embossing in the product itself. i’m not even that into unicorns and i found this irresistibly cute.
for my initial try, i only tested the product on five makeup brushes since i didn’t want to ruin any, in case it turned out to be damaging to the bristles. thankfully it worked great and i have since used the cleanser on the rest of my makeup brushes — natural and synthetic fibers alike — without issue.
so how does it work?
1. wet your solid cleanser and dirty makeup brush under running water. swirl the brush around the cleanser, making sure to pick up enough product to coat it well. i find that the amount i need to use varies per brush and how dirty it is at time of washing.
2. swirl your cleanser-coated brush on the palm of your hand (one of those egg brush cleaners works perfectly, too!) until it foams up and you see residual makeup coming out.
3. rinse brush until water runs clear. if you are not satisfied at first go, you can dip your brush back in the cleanser and repeat the process.
4. behold your newly cleaned makeup brush. get super excited at your accomplishment, and then realize you still have to let it dry before you can use it again.
et voilà! easy-peasy, right?
no doubt, the unicorn brush wash by hello gorgeous works well. it leaves your brushes squeaky clean and smelling great, too! i haven’t used this with my beauty blender though, mainly because i never use a sponge with my foundation (#lazygirlproblems). i should really try it soon! but until then, this solid brush cleanser gets a thumbs up from me.
