Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipsticks By Kate Moss
i’m a bit iffy about officially calling this post a “review,” since there are already tons and tons of those available on these particular products, and what i have to say about them is hardly groundbreaking. but i decided to do this post anyway since i do love these lipsticks and would like to spread the love some more.
so far i’ve only got a handful of shades from the kate moss x rimmel london lip color collection — two mattes and two from the regular line — both purchased on ASOS with a ridiculous discount some weeks ago. otherwise i would go to ulta or drugstore.com for much lower prices!
from the regular line i got shades 12 and 16, both in the peach-toned family (currently obsessed with lip colors in this hue).
#12 is the darker, brighter, more orangey of the two. it is opaque in one swipe but layers beautifully as well. i love its satin finish and like to wear it with some smudged-out liner and lots of mascara.
color #16 is a lovely peachy-pink (swatches more pink on my hand but is true-to-color in my lip swatches!) that has become a staple in my everyday make-up routine. indeed it is my most used lipstick out of the four, as it looks great with just about any eye look and is quite flattering on.
the lasting finish lipsticks in matte were a pleasant surprise. most matte formulas i encounter are just too drying for me and it is such a pain having to drag product across my lips, leaving a patchy trail of color behind. but these two lipsticks i got, in shades 101 and 107, are a lot easier to work with–although to be honest i am not sure if all shades from the line apply as smooth as these do.
i had a feeling lipstick #101 was going to be difficult to pull off, it being a blue-based powder pink and my skin being unforgivably yellow-toned. i almost didn’t go for this shade tbh, but i thought i’d give it a shot since i adore colors that toe the pastel line. i’m happy to report that it is completely wearable and looks positively darling on the lips, especially with a good ol’ smokey eye. it is smooth, creamy, and all kinds of cute. love love love.
ah the matte lipstick in #107 — a cult favorite if i ever saw one. so of course i had to get it. in all fairness, i love this shade too! really pretty and unique in its own right. and unlike other deep burgundy/plum hues, this one is actually easy to wear. just be careful with application: starting out light and building up to your desired shade is definitely key. the lipstick lasts a good while on the lips and leaves a bit of stain in its wake — which i personally favor — so do keep that in mind.
what other shades from the kate moss x rimmel london lipstick collection would you recommend?
