The Things That Used To Be

did you know that back in the day, when i had just started blogging and contributing to wardrobe_remix on flickr, i used to wear tights with everything? i almost never wore a dress or skirt without tights underneath. i had them in all colors of the rainbow, and it didn’t matter if it was the dead of summer: i would wear them with pride, and a rather annoying spring in my step. there was hardly any real, pragmatic reason for my obsession, except that i was completely enamored with the wonder that is a pair of tights.

i don’t know when my infatuation ended, really, although i am inclined to blame my two-year stint as a TV news reporter, during which i had to shift to slightly more “serious” clothes and an even more “serious” life perspective (well, ideally anyway). but truthfully, i have missed wearing tights these last couple of years and virtually jump at any chance i can get to wear them (thank you, la niña).

and so here is a pair of pretty mustard tights – a recent purchase, natch – worn with an otherwise summery ensemble. this used to be my go-to look; a uniform that felt most “me” and got me fervently excited about dressing up. i think it’s nice to reminisce about little things like this, if only to remember how everything used to be and say: oh, old self, how i have missed thee.
