SONA: Then and Now

this was me last year at the president’s state of the nation address (SONA). i was at my old job as news reporter and had been assigned to cover the event’s fashion-y side, so i was standing by the red carpet, watching as the who’s who of the political scene came and went. but even then, i still had to be aware of the contents of the president’s speech.

after all, it is the news reporter’s job to know everything that’s going on.

this is me today, at my current job as copywriter at an events/advertising agency. as i sit in front of my computer, waiting patiently for the SONA’s live streaming to kick in, i am wondering what the president has to say this time. what issues would he address? how many paragraphs will he dedicate to bashing the previous administration? i know there is a leaked copy of his speech going around the internet now, but i don’t want to read it. i like to be surprised.

i’ve hardly even watched the news since i left the media so i have no idea what’s going on.
