We can lessen the junk in this world by using, reusing and in this case, upcycling some stuff for better usage. I like how the Junk Studio makes stuff quirkier, not ugly, like how some recycling centers do with things. I fell in love with the Audrey Hepburn bottle cap ring. It's fab and upcycled. Who knows where these caps have been before? Or what the story is all about? What's the owner of the hands (who hand-makes them) is thinking whilst painting, coloring or twisting these things?
It just adds so much to the accessory's character.

I should buy them because I wouldn't want to drown under all the garbage we're producing—I'd rather wear them around my neck now than have them choke me in the near future!=)
oh in case I win, I want the Lulu pendant,=)

the rings are adorable! i'm torn between little lulu and the drum-playing owl…whoot!
being a fashion thrift addict, i am definitely up for turning trash into treasure..the genius and creativity of bringing life back to unwanted trash is just incredible.

Because they're made from the heart. Who would scramble up pieces of garbage and turn it to something beautiful? Truly, only those who have passion in creating great things out of nothing.
I have the same rainbow ring and I absolutely adore it too! 🙂

Why should I buy upcycled goods?
Maybe because I get to buy from someone who played God and created a masterpiece out of pile of junks, just like what God did when he made people. 😀

I would first like to start by saying that upcycled goods are different from trash. It is not garbage.
I mean, people only thought of it like so because those originally are components of a bigger object but should already be disposed because it does not make sense anymore upon the consumption or use of the object. In this case, tansan + bottle of Coke. We only consider the tansan as trash because what we really intend to do is to drink the Coke inside the bottle. It's not really trash, in the first place. So I don't see anything weird or anything worth the amusement in upcycling goods because there should be nothing new in doing so. There's nothing different if you use gems or diamonds, versus a tansan on your ring. It is not written in any book that only stones are limited in attaching to rings, right? We are just reacting like everything is so cool because the designs are quirky and that it's very rare. 🙂

WHY SHOULD YOU BUY UPCYCLED GOODS?
Upcycled goods are the product of the powerful force of man’s brilliant mind and artistic hands. When we buy items like these, we contribute in making the world survive longer. However, I deem that the most important part we’ve played in doing so is foster, encourage and advance the creativity, passion and inventiveness of people for such craftsmanship. In this way, we not only cultivate the growth of a livelihood industry, we also make the artists believe that their talent and ingenuity are highly valued.

Why should one, such as me, buy upcycled goods? Well it honestly took some time to think about it but then the answer hit me. Why not buy upcycled goods?
They're as "high-quality" as other products out there, actually the ones you just showed and several others on the market are already high-class items. Not only are these products environmentally friendly (since manufacturers/artists reuse items) but they also happen to be one of the best unique accessories one can have in their lifetime. Especially at the world we live today, we strive to show off our individuality and personality, and what better way to do such but with upcycled goods. Whether it be accessories, bags or clothes; one can definitely make a statement wearing it.
Also as a lady of faith, I believe such things are blessings from God. God has blessed a person with creativity and skills to produce such a product and therefore as an admirer of such beautiful blessings, I believe its only fair to purchase such unique items (since I can barely make anything that pretty. Hehehe.) In this world where commercialism and uniqueness are slowly taking away our creativity and individuality, such a simple act of buying upcycled goods will be the start of something even greater (perhaps slow down global warming, lessen floods from happening or even feed the poor. Anything is possible).

why should you buy upcycled goods?
– i think its very simple, upcycled goods looks fabulous and very unique. who would have thought these things could be turned up and reinvented into something new and creative. two things could be done: recycling things and adding up your accessories! 🙂
September 10, 2010 at 1:23 pm
because…. i want to have something unique to wear… i dont want the usual generic accesories… using upcycled materials makes each item unique.. 🙂

I buy upcycled goods as investment for those days when I feel like donning a fun, carefree and youthful ensemble. Just because I find it boring to wear a refined outfit and (try to) be a lady of couture all the time.
In addition, to wear someone's unique but not mass-produced art is just way too cool, not to mention inspiring, in the sense that it makes me think of and find more ways to be creative and resourceful at the same time. And this, I believe, is an already BIG step to help save the world in one of the best-est ways I know how.
