TV Inspiration: Nelle Porter
did you ever watch ally mcbeal? i remember being in high school when i really got into it. i was drawn by the cast’s crazy courtroom antics, the feisty women and the main character’s resolute determination to find the love of her life.
ally, played by calista flockheart, is of course known for her teeny tiny skirts. there isn’t much variation with those, but she does make the occasional sartorial breakthrough.
lucy liu’s character ling, on the other hand, has a sexier fashion sense. i love all her quirky little accessories.
but the lovely portia de rossi, who plays the “ice queen” lawyer nelle porter, is the show’s true fashionista.
although she has the pretty goldilocks hair, which is styled in a myriad ways…
…she pulls off menswear best.
i can’t tell you how many of my office outfits have been inspired by one of her looks.

I agree! Old school series! I really enjoyed the wackiness of Ally McBeal. It's like the show Scrubs for lawyers. I remember watching over and over again the episodes where Josh Groban and James Marsden guested. Ah, James Marsden…
I like how you pointed out it is good officewear inspiration!

I used to watch ally mcbeal too! I love the humor and everything about it. Back then, i wasn't that interested in fashion so I haven't really noticed. Looking at it now, yeah, it is good inspiration 🙂

Yes! She always had the best style, I never missed an episode when it was on tv but haven’t watched it since. I think it’s time to revisit!
